Nissan Maintenance in Dothan, AL

Why Nissan Maintenance Isn’t Glamorous — But Absolutely Necessary in Dothan, AL

Nobody gathers the family around to celebrate a fresh oil change. But the truth is, the less attention you pay to the small, routine jobs your Nissan needs, the more likely you are to meet a tow truck driver under stressful circumstances. Around Dothan, AL, where heat, humidity, and real-world driving miles pile up quickly, basic maintenance isn’t about perfection. It’s about keeping your car dependable when life gets chaotic. more Routine Service That Keeps Everyday Reliability Intact Oil changes sit at the top of the maintenance food chain for a reason. Engine oil lubricates internal components, helps manage temperature, and prevents premature wear. Skipping service intervals doesn’t usually cause instant failure. Instead, it slowly chips away at performance until one day the vehicle simply doesn’t feel right. Most Nissan models benefit from oil service roughly every 5,000–7,500 miles, depending on driving conditions and engine design. Brake inspections fall into the same category of quiet responsibility. Pads and rotors wear gradually, and addressing them early often prevents more expensive repairs later. Tire and Battery Care That Supports Daily Driving Confidence Tires influence everything from fuel economy to stopping distance. Checking inflation pressure regularly and rotating tires at consistent mileage intervals promotes even tread wear and stable handling characteristics. On Alabama roads where temperatures climb quickly, proper tire condition becomes a genuine safety factor. Battery performance also deserves attention. Heat accelerates internal chemical breakdown, meaning a battery that worked perfectly last season may struggle unexpectedly. Periodic testing helps avoid inconvenient no-start situations. Fluid Checks and Filter Changes That Protect Long-Term Performance Coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and air filters all contribute to mechanical efficiency. Maintaining proper fluid levels supports temperature regulation and smooth drivetrain operation. Replacing air filters keeps engine airflow unrestricted and helps preserve interior air quality during longer drives across Dothan, AL. These small steps rarely feel substantial, but they add up to measurable reliability over time. Visit Bondy’s Nissan for Professional Maintenance Support Drivers who stay consistent with routine Nissan maintenance often experience fewer unexpected issues and more predictable performance year after year. Scheduling regular inspections at Bondy’s Nissan in Dothan, AL can help ensure your vehicle continues to handle daily responsibilities without unnecessary stress - because dependable transportation should never feel risky.

Safety Saturday - Nissan Rear Automaic Braking

In our last installment of Safety Saturday, we will take a deep dive into Rear Automatic Braking. In the previous post, we discussed Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and now we are going to be building on that with this next feature. As we talked about previously, Rear Cross Traffic Alert will send a tone and light alert when it senses a vehicle approaching from either side while you are backing up. Rear Automatic Braking is going to take that one step further. This safety feature "helps the driver detect large stationary objects when backing up" and "applies the brakes to help avoid or mitigate damage" when needed. As you are backing up, the sensors located in the rear bumper will be watching for objects behind you. As you approach a stationary object the vehicle will send out tones that will increase in speed the closer you get to the object. If the system detects that you are not going to stop before you hit the object, it will apply the brakes for you. For example, say that you were like my husband who always wants to back into his parking space. If he was trying to park in a parking garage with a parking space that backed up to a wall, the sensors would beep at him at increasing speeds the closer he got to the wall. If he was approaching the wall too fast, the vehicle would apply the brakes to keep him from bumping into the wall. Check out the video below for an example of how Rear Automatic Braking will help make you a safer driver. This feature, like Rear Cross Traffic Alert, will be a benefit to all drivers. Everyone who puts their vehicle in reverse at any point in their driving will use this feature to be able to judge the distance between the back of their car and another object.

Nissan Lane Departure Warning Button

Safety Saturday - Nissan Lane Departure Warning

Welcome to the third installment of Safety Saturday! Today we will be discussing another one of our Safety Shield 360 features, Lane Departure Warning. Lane Departure Warning provides a driver with both safety and convenience. It is "designed to help alert drivers to unintended movement of the vehicle out of its travel lane." ?To put this into a real-world perspective, have you ever been driving and taken your eyes off of the road to turn your radio station? In just those few seconds, your vehicle may start to drift into the other lane or on the shoulder. With Lane Departure Warning, the system will alert you with a chime or a vibration of the steering wheel to let you know that you are moving out of your traveling lane. This vibration or chime is intended to get your attention fast so you can put your vehicle back into your traveling path. This feature is just a warning and will not take over to keep your vehicle in the lane. The system that operates this feature is more complicated than the one for High Beam Assist. It uses a combination of a "small wide-angle camera, advanced image processing, speed sensor, and control unit" to detect a lane departure.? This feature only works if the lines for the traffic lane can be clearly seen and the vehicle is traveling more than 37 miles per hour. You may also be thinking to yourself that this feature is going to eventually get annoying by going off every time you enter a turn lane. To overcome this, Lane Departure Warning will not operate if the turn signal is activated. So, as long as you use your turn signal to move from lane to lane you will not have to deal with the chime or vibrating steering wheel. Purchasing a new 2023 Nissan here at your local Dothan Nissan dealership, equipped with this feature, will make you a more confident driver. One of the goals that Nissan has set out to accomplish is to make all drivers confident on the road, and Lane Departure Warning is just one more step in completing that mission.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), cross traffic alert reduces crashes by 22 percent; the combination of rearview cameras and sensors reduces crashes by 42 percent; and adding rear emergency braking reduces backing crashes by 78 percent compared with vehicles with none of these features. Nissan North American chairman Denis LeVot, says "Our philosophy is to bring Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies to market in our most popular and affordable vehicles." He also stated that "Safety Shield 360 combines six advanced systems to give models like Altima and Rogue a class-leading package of technologies that can improve safety and the overall driving experience for Nissan owners." Leaf Madness! The Nissan LEAF became the first electric car in history to surpass 400,000 sales

Tech Tuesday: Leaf Madness!

Happy Tech Tuesday all! Today we are celebrating a pretty big milestone from the past year. The Nissan LEAF became the first electric car in history to surpass 400,000 sales, solidifying the model's leading role in the global shift toward more sustainable mobility. Introduced in 2010 as the world's first mass-market electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF has led the way in making the excitement and convenience of electric driving accessible to non-luxury buyers. Less than a decade ago, electric cars were seen as a niche product, and LEAF customers were mostly "early adopters." Today, a growing number of consumers say their next car may be electric. Customers are choosing the LEAF for its powerful, agile performance and advanced technologies, such as the ProPILOT Assist semi-autonomous driving system, in addition to the benefits of sustainable mobility. Did you Know? Here are some facts on the Nissan Leaf! In launching the first-generation LEAF, Nissan pledged to become a global leader in producing and promoting vehicles with zero tailpipe emissions. The company committed itself to working with governments and utility companies to support the adoption of electric vehicles, make charging them easier and more convenient, and develop second-life uses for electric car batteries. Since then, Nissan has formed partnerships around the world under its Nissan Energy initiative. These partnerships will leverage the ability of electric car batteries to store energy and share it with homes, businesses and power grids - making electric vehicles even more useful, while promoting efficient energy use. Meanwhile, LEAF owners have driven their cars more than 10 billion kilometers in total. The number of LEAF vehicles sold since 2010 is enough to save 3.8 million barrels of oil a year. The Nissan LEAF embodies the three pillars of Nissan Intelligent Mobility - Intelligent Power, Intelligent Drive and Intelligent Integration. The car's innovative electric powertrains exemplify the first, while ProPILOT Assist, available in many markets, showcases the second. Designed for single-lane driving on the highway, ProPILOT Assist maintains speed and lane position while reducing driver fatigue. Nissan Energy also includes new efforts to reuse batteries, a vital step in enhancing the sustainability of electric vehicles. Along with strategic partners, Nissan has taken LEAF batteries and repurposed them for use in off-grid street lighting, power banks for sports complexes, and more. The Nissan LEAF is built at three factories: Oppama, Japan; Sunderland, England; and Smyrna, Tennessee.

Cruise Control of the Future

Tech Tuesday: Cruise Control of the Future

Happy Tech Tuesday everyone! Today we are looking at Nissan's Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC). This works like a standard cruise control, only with the added feature of maintaining a selected distance from the vehicle in front of you. The distance to the vehicle ahead can be selected at any time depending on the traffic conditions. How does this works? It's very simple really. Each time the distance switch is pushed, the set distance will change to long, medium, short and back to long again. The distance to the vehicle ahead will change according to the vehicle speed. The higher the vehicle speed, the longer the distance. If the vehicle in front is traveling slower than your set speed, the ICC will automatically match that vehicle's speed. Once the road ahead clears, the ICC will resume your set speed automatically. When the road ahead is clear, the driver can set the speed range between approximately 20 to 90 miles per hour. This awesome technology is pushing vehicles into the future of car ownership, and is making every day actions more stress free.
